Primary maths practice for Years 1 to 6

Short, stage-by-stage maths practice that follows the primary curriculum, from number bonds and times tables to fractions, percentages and algebra.

The four operations

Each operation has its own ladder of fifty stages, starting simple and getting harder only once the last stage is done.

  • Addition
  • Subtraction
  • Multiplication and times tables
  • Division

Topic practice

Children can also pick a topic directly. Questions scale with their year group, so a Year 2 and a Year 6 child see different questions on the same topic.

  • Place value
  • Fractions
  • Decimals
  • Percentages
  • Shape and geometry
  • Measurement and money
  • Data and statistics
  • Word problems
  • Negative numbers
  • Roman numerals
  • Ratio and proportion
  • Algebra

Common questions

Which year groups is the maths practice for?

Years 1 to 6. Questions are matched to the child’s year group, and topics such as decimals, percentages, ratio and algebra appear only in the years where they are taught.

Does it include times tables practice?

Yes. Multiplication is one of the four operation ladders, and the site also has a times tables guide and check practice. See our guide to times tables by year group.

How is a stage structured?

A stage is a short set of questions on one skill. Finishing it unlocks the next stage, and every answer gets instant feedback.
