Terms of use

Last updated 21 October 2026

Please read these terms before you use Oakling Primary Scholars. We've kept them as short and plain as we can.

Terms at a glance

  • Oakling Essentials is free for as long as you like, with no card needed.
  • Every family gets Oakling Premium free until 31 December 2026. Nothing is charged automatically when it ends.
  • Paid plans renew automatically. Cancel online any time and keep access to the end of the period.
  • 14-day money-back guarantee on your first payment for a plan.
  • Schools buy by quote and invoice, on the terms in their quote.

Accepting these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Oakling Academics (“we”, “us”), whose details are under Contact us below. By creating an account or buying a plan, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

About the service

Oakling Primary Scholars is an online practice service for children in Years 1 to 6: maths, SPAG, reading, science, French and reasoning, with progress reports for parents and teachers. It follows the national curriculum in England. We are not connected with the Department for Education or the Standards and Testing Agency, and our times tables check practice is not the official multiplication tables check.

Accounts

  • Parent and teacher accounts are for adults aged 18 or over.
  • Children use the service through an account that their parent, guardian or teacher creates. That adult is responsible for the child's use of it and for keeping the child's username and PIN safe. After 5 wrong PINs a child's account locks until that adult unlocks it.
  • Setting up or joining a school needs a confirmed school email address. Other teacher accounts work as tutor accounts, for your own pupils only.
  • Give accurate details, keep your password private, and tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account.
  • Don't enter more about a child than the forms ask for (for example, no surnames).

Our content and yours

The questions, explanations, designs and the Oakling names and logos belong to us. While you have an account, you may use them for your own children's or pupils' learning.

Children's answers and progress belong to the family or the school. We store and use them only to run the service, as our privacy policy explains.

Fair use

Please don't:

  • try to get into accounts that aren't yours, or test, overload or disrupt the service;
  • copy, scrape, resell or republish our questions or explanations;
  • share one family plan outside your family, or let a child's account be used by someone else;
  • use the service for anything unlawful or harmful.

Plans and payment for families

  • Oakling Essentials is our free plan, free for as long as you like, with 3 practice rounds a day and 7 days of progress history. Our plans page shows the details.
  • Free launch: until 31 December 2026, every family gets Oakling Premium free and no card is needed. After that, accounts stay on Essentials unless you choose a paid plan; nothing is charged automatically.
  • Oakling Plus and Oakling Premium are subscriptions. They renew automatically each month, quarter or year until you cancel. Prices are in pounds and include any VAT. Plus covers 1 child and Premium covers 2; each extra child is charged at the price shown on the plans page.
  • Free trial: if you haven't subscribed before, Premium starts with a 7-day free trial and Plus with a 3-day free trial. You add a card when it starts. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, the subscription starts and you're charged.
  • Failed payments: if a payment fails, our payment provider will try again for a short time. If it still fails, the subscription ends and your account moves to Essentials.
  • Price changes: we'll tell you at least 30 days before any price change affects your subscription, and you can cancel before it does.
  • Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.

Cancelling and refunds

  • Cancel any time online from your account. Your plan carries on until the end of the period you've paid for, then your account moves to Essentials.
  • 14-day money-back guarantee: if Oakling isn't right for your child, email contact@oakling11plus.co.uk within 14 days of your first payment for a plan and we'll refund that payment in full.
  • Your legal rights: because you get access straight away, you agree when you pay that the service starts immediately. Our money-back guarantee gives you at least the same 14 days to change your mind as the law does, and it is in addition to your other legal rights, including if the service is faulty.

Schools

Schools pay one price a year for the whole school, set by its size, as shown on our schools page. School prices exclude VAT. A school can try the service free for 4 weeks, then buys by quote, paid by invoice or purchase order. The quote sets out the price and the period, and these terms apply alongside it. When a school adds pupils, the school is the data controller for their information and we handle it on its behalf, as our privacy policy explains.

Privacy

We handle personal data in line with UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) and the ICO's Children's Code. Our privacy policy explains what we collect, why, and your rights.

No guarantee of results

We work hard to make questions accurate and helpful, but practice results here don't predict or guarantee a result in any school test, including the multiplication tables check or the Year 6 SATs. If you spot a mistake in a question, email contact@oakling11plus.co.uk.

Availability

We aim to keep the service running smoothly but can't promise it will always be available or free of errors, and we may improve or change features over time. If something we change takes away a main part of a paid plan, you can cancel and we'll refund any unused part of what you've paid.

Our liability

Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer or our liability for anything that can't legally be limited, such as death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud. Otherwise, we're not responsible for losses that weren't foreseeable, or for business losses. Our total liability to you is limited to what you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Ending your account

Parents and teachers can delete a child's account, and everything in it, at any time. To close your own account, email contact@oakling11plus.co.uk and we'll delete it with all your children's accounts and cancel any subscription. See our privacy policy for what happens to your data.

We may suspend or close accounts that seriously or repeatedly break these terms. Where reasonable, we'll tell you why first and give you a chance to put things right. If we close a paid account without good reason, we'll refund the unused part of your plan.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when we add features or the law changes. For an important change, we'll tell account holders at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you don't agree, you can cancel before then.

Law and disputes

If you have a problem, please email us first and we'll do our best to put it right. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
